About Stockfest 2014

Stockfest, a week long festival celebrating the village of Stockbridge in Edinburgh and the surrounding community, returns in 2014 for its 3rd festival.

The brainchild of Stockbridge Traders, Tannis Dodd (Herbie of Edinburgh) and JoJo Hernandez (Lilies & Dreams), follows on from the success of previous two years and a series of one day festivals in the area.  This year sees a growth in the Committee to include the LifeCare Group (http://www.lifecare-edinburgh.org.uk) the Stockbridge Library (https://www.facebook.com/StockbridgeLibrary) and four local residents.

Spread over the week of Saturday 20th – Saturday 27th September 2014, the festival involves local traders, community groups, schools & residents and as ever the 2014 programme will not disappoint!

Stockfest Committee organised events return including: an Opening Party Community Ceilidh.. StockFlea – an UpCycling and Vintage Flea Market.. StockDog – a mini ‘scruffs’ event to be held in Inverleith Park.. StockDish – where Stockbridge Chefs go head to head with their culinary delights.. And a Jazz & Blues themed Closing Party, coordinated by the Events Team at Lilies & Dreams.

Monday 22nd incorporates the Inverleith Allotments Open Day where questions such as “Have you ever thought about growing your own fruit and vegetables but don’t know where to start?” can be answered and you can book into a Free Tour of the plots.

Highlights for the rest of the week include Guided Walks through the area, Taster Sessions in Zumba and Swing Dancing at LifeCare on Cheyne Street, Book and Poetry readings plus a Military History Talk at Stockbridge Library, Live Music and Shopping Discount Evenings throughout the area and even a Street Party hosted by the St Stephen Street Traders Association.
